Sponsored Prostrations Event!

In Tibet it is quite common to see pilgrims doing full body prostrations all the way on their journey to a temple. On 20th February 2021 we raised some much-needed donations by doing full body movements like they do in Tibet!  Friends and volunteers of the charity came together using video link technology, bringing a real sense of hope and community.  We raised well over a thousand pounds which will all be donated directly for use by some of the poorest children we support in helping them with their education.  Our plans are to help those in mainstream schools not be disadvantaged due to their guardians being on low income.  Recently we found it heart-breaking to learn that one family in particular were sharing one small old mobile phone they managed to buy in order to use it for online lessons whilst home schooling during COVID-19 lockdown in India.

As we know ourselves in the UK, lockdown has been extremely challenging.  Loss of loved ones, loss of jobs, anxiety and lack of social contact.  It's been quite overwhelming for many people.  Imagine what kind of impact all this will have on someone already suffering and living in poverty, like our children and young adults in India.  We have found it particularly challenging to raise funds too during this time.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who took part and donated for this event.

If you would like to organise any event or partake in a challenge to raise money we would be over the moon.  You can set up for funds from your supporters to be donated via Total Giving by searching for Tibetan Sakya Trust.
